KEEPING PROMISES MADE TO SCOTLAND'S CHILDREN!
- Nearly every country in the world has promised to make life better for children. The promises they have made are written down in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child or UNCRC for short. The UNCRC is very important because it lists all the promises that have been made to children in Scotland and so all children should know about them.
- There are 42 of these promises. You can check them out on our website or download useful guide. They are not about things like staying up all night, eating ice cream and watching TV - you may just WANT to do that! They are promises about things that children NEED to have a good life - so that they will be protected from harm, have a say about things that matter to them, and grow up to be healthy and happy.
Tam - Scotland's Commissioner for Children and Young People - has to make sure you know what the promises are and what he can do to make sure they are kept. You can contact Tam and his team to find out more about the promises and to tell them if you think they are being kept or not.
