Registered childminders are professional self-employed daycarers who work in their own homes to provide care and education for other people's children in a family setting.
To become a Childminder, you must:-
- be registered and inspected by the Care Commission, contact local office on 01786 406363
- complete a criminal history check through Disclosure Scotland
- use the National Care Standards Early education and childcare up to the age of 16
- undertake a fire safety risk assessment and carry out fire safety measures to make sure you comply with fire safety laws, using Fire precautions - a childminders guide
- - For support and training before, during and after your registration, contact the Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA). The SCMA priorities are to raise the profile of childminding, improve the quality of childminding and recruit & retain quality childminders.
