Children in Scotland organises a programme of training workshops, seminars and conferences around Scotland.  The programme is designed for those involved in policy making and planning for the range of children's services and for those working directly with children and young people in the statutory, voluntary and independent sectors.

All training workshops aim to promote an integrated approach to those working with children, young people and their families in wide variety of settings across the sectors including social work, education, health, sport and leisure, arts and culture, youth justice, childcare.

FIRST AID AT WORK

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CHILDMINDER?

Registered childminders are professional self-employed daycarers who work in their own homes to provide care and education for other people's children in a family setting.

To become a Childminder, you must:-

  1. be registered and inspected by the Care Commission, contact local office on 01786 406363
  2. complete a criminal history check through Disclosure Scotland
  3. use the National Care Standards Early education and childcare up to the age of 16
  4. undertake a fire safety risk assessment and carry out fire safety measures to make sure you comply with fire safety laws, using Fire precautions - a childminders guide

- - For support and training before, during and after your registration, contact the Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA).  The SCMA priorities are to raise the profile of childminding, improve the quality of childminding and recruit & retain quality childminders.
